Yoga for two people

Yoga for two people: mother and teen daughter

We live in an uncertain time. Everyone is asking themselves “what will happen when all of this passes?”. The answer is undeniable: easy and complicated at the same time- everyone has their fate: individual, personal. Someone will continue walking on the former path, but someones life will turn around 180 degrees and flow in completely different direction. There will be someone who losses everything, and there will be someone who will obtain and learn many things.

We know in life we cannot control things that happen around and to you. But we can certainly control how we react and respond to the things that happen to us and with us. Sometime we look at our friends and family for support, guidance or just a hug. There are many ways you can help yourself have energy, stay grounded, and have courage in every day life. Now let’s talk about yoga! What is it? How do people see yoga and what we know about yoga? Some people cannot talk about yoga, because of their religion or family taboo or restrictions. For some, people yoga is just an exercise to lose weight. Some do yoga just to go to a studio and meet people that are supposed to be ahead on a spiritual path. For some people yoga is just to get flexibility, or to learn how to breath well. Some people even do sex yoga. What is yoga for you? What has happened to the world? We all need to wake up and see who we all have become, as a human as the world.

Yoga is not an exercise that you come in the studio and spend 45 minutes on so you can feel better. Yoga is a lifestyle that one choses and it is a road that takes you to a better understanding of yourself and to a happier life. Lets take a deep look at what yoga is. Yoga is a lifestyle and teaches us how to be free from all the sources of conditioning that binds into small ways of thinking and being, meaning we should be entirely awake and fully alive. That is what the 5 points of yoga do. This is the best process of doing yoga for two people!

What are the 5 points of yoga? I call them fingers. Like your hand has 5 fingers the points are all connected like fingers on your hand.

  1. Proper Exercise (Asana, Postures) Asana, meaning steady poses designed to develop the body, mind, and spirit. Performing them slowly and consciously you will increase flexibility and strength, as well as concentration in meditation. You should understand that the body only stays young as it is flexible and asanas stretch the entire body, toning the muscles, joints, spine and skeletal system, as well as stimulating the internal organs and glands, driving energy to all body systems, to bring radiant physical health. Asanas better mental health, brings emotional balance, calmness, and sense of being grounded, as well as realization of our connection to universe.

  2. Proper Breathing (Pranayama). Breathing is life. Yoga teaches us to use the lungs to their maximum capacity, and with control of our breath we can increase energy and gain mental clarity. Exercising with Pranayama we connect our body with our solar plexus. An enormous amount of energy is stored here. Yogis know if you can control your breathing patterns then you can control your mind.

  3. Proper Relaxation (Savasana). Relaxation is natures way of recharging. When we overwork ourselves, our body and mind begin to run out of their productivity. Yoga focuses on a proper relaxation to create a sense of balance physically and mentally. Three methods of relaxation are used; physical, mental, and spiritual. For physical we lie in savasana you sending a massage to each part of our body to relax. To relax the mind we use pranayama, focusing our mind on positive thinking. In spiritual relaxation we practice meditation, detaching ourselves from our emotions and thoughts. We train ourselves to live in the present and welcome life’s challenges with strength and courage. When we learn how to free the outside from identification with our body and mind, then we will connect with our pure self.

  4. Proper Diet (Vegetarian) You are what you eat. We should eat with awareness, choosing food that is positive for our body and mind and has the least negative impact on the environment and other beings. These foods promote health of the body and a peaceful mind. What we eat should supply the body with the necessary amount of energy to sustain mental and physical health. A simple diet based on fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, and dairy promotes physical and mental health and has harmony with the world around us. Foods as meat, alcohol, fish, tobacco, and processed foods, brings damaging effects that leads us to anger, depression, and health problems mentally and physically.

  5. Positive Thinking and Meditation (Vadanta and Dhyana) We are what we think. Our thoughts define who we are. When we focus on the positive in everything around us we create elevation in our health, a peaceful, and joyful life. Meditation is the key to to open your heart, give you peace of mind, and helps remove negativity out of our lives. Positive and cheerful thoughts, bring us joy, courage, and will heal us. Yoga teaches us that our thoughts are the real cause behind our success and happiness in life. We really are what we think. When we master the art of positive thinking, then we will be happy, peaceful, and have the ability to see, and realize the higher truth.

Doing yoga together does not mean touching each other I will go over points that people can do together but still have their own space. Most teen girls want their own personal space as do most people. So let’s see what can we do together but at the same time a part. Without touching you still have a strong connection. Out of the asanas, my favorite, and I believe the most powerful to warm up your body is a sun salutation. Take some time in the day to sit down next to each other and just focus on your breath. You can breath in and out together counting in your mind and listening each other so you can be as one. Whatever your ability is, count in to an even number breathing in, and counting twice as long breathing out, doing a set of 10. Breathing together next to each other will certainly bring you together, and sometimes you will even think the same. For relaxation, we all need a good rest in the night, but sometimes we just need a little way to recharge in the day. Lie down next to each other in Savasana, corpse pose for 15 minutes. While you are in pose send messages to you body to relax. Say; my feet are relaxed, my toes are relaxed, my legs are relaxed, go all the way through your body from down up. Just those 15 minutes will help you so much to stay positive and happy in your daily life. Diet, try have many different colors of vegetables and fruits in your everyday healthy meal. Eat together and share your meals as much as you can, no TV no phones just you together and food. Have time for your meals even if its only one or two meals a day. Meals are the best way and time to connect. We are what we eat and who we eat with is the world around us. Positive thinking and meditation, spend some time meditating together. Meditating together you can focus on one word, (love, joy, forgiveness, happy, grateful), whatever comes to you that day. For example; we use the word LOVE. Sit down for 15-30 minutes and repeat in your mind the word LOVE. In the end of your meditation you both will feel loved. If you meditate in the morning your day will be charged with clarity and positivity. If you meditate it in the night you will sleep with less worry. Mornings and nights are the best, but any time will help you in your every day challenges.

Yoga for two people. We have to be ready, able, and willing to serve, give, and love each other. When we do what is required we will realize and understand ourself, as well as purify our relationships with the people we love. This is the best way for Mothers and teen daughters connection to have a beautiful and treasured bond, a happy and joyful relationship, and peaceful life.

“When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bonds: Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be.” -Patanjali
